We are experiencing a white winter wonderland, somewhat reminiscent of the winter of 1996-7 with high precipitation. Some lake-effect snows bringing in new layers of white. This will be a great year for skiiers! As we complete the 2010 year, it seems that the residential real estate market faired better than in 2009 as prices continued to drop and some incredible opportunities in the housing market were just too good to pass up. Lending continues to be tight with higher lending qualification requirements. Residential lending remains active but land sales and commercial sales are of little interest to most lenders. For us Realtors, we are dealing with another layer of bureaucracy known as asset managers and loss mitigation departments. Each transaction is challenging with down-to-the-wire outcomes. As we hunker down for the winter months, with little activity in the current market, we can only hope that 2011 is a better year for all of us.
